i'm dakota,

the overly enthusiastic, ice cream-loving
girl behind the camera.

I'm an entrepreneur at heart, an encourager by nature, and live to make others feel beautiful and appreciated.

Being a busy-body and big dreamer, it would take hours to tell you about all of the things I'm passionate about –– a perfect summer day, growing businesses to their full potential, seeing brides dance with their teary-eyed fathers, listening to high school seniors talk about moving to college, golden retriever puppies...

BUT the thing that is at the heart of everything I do is PEOPLE

I believe that helping other people achieve their goals will help you achieve your own and that if you are excited about your passions people will tend to be excited with you. As a photographer, that looks like making sure you see yourself the way the world sees you...beautiful, joyful, and confident.

I started my photography career at a young age and over the years I have wholeheartedly pursued creating a client experience that reflects the love and excitement I have for both the camera and the people in front of it.

I am so thankful to have built a business that allows me to spend my days with other people who are celebrating the most exciting seasons of life and being the one that makes sure they can remember it forever.

Where are you dying to visit?

Italy! I'm not sure why I've been so interested in going there lately...but it's probably the emphasis on pizza, pasta, bread, and cheese. #allthecarbs (So if you're planning an Italian wedding or even just an Italian menu...count me in!!!)

What’s your favorite thing to look up on Pinterest?

Lately it's been clean white bedrooms with pops of color. I also have been pinning healthy and quick meals to make during the week, and any pretty graphic designs. I used to want to be a graphic designer so I love all of the fonts and logos!

What’s your favorite part of the wedding day?

I love sitting with the bridesmaids while they are getting ready. This is such a fun time to get to know everyone my brides consider their best friends. BUT the moment that gets me every wedding is the first dance between the bride and her dad...I tear up every time.

What do you look for in a friend?

I love to surround myself with people who make me laugh, are loyal and genuine, and love to talk as much as I do. I am a passionate person who loves to talk about big ideas and finding people who share those types of visions always makes for endless conversations.

What's your favorite show to binge watch?

Ohhhh, so many. I LOVE reality tv –– anything Kardashian, Real Housewives, Millionaire Matchmaker, etc. But other than those, you can usually find New Girl or The Office playing in the background in my living room.

What's your favorite college memory?

Honestly I loved living in the dorms! It's so surprising that I say that now because I definitely thought this would be the WORST part of college...but having each night feel like a sleepover with my best friends created the most unforgettable memories and laughs.

give me this...

I am a southern girl raised on the coast of North Carolina and I cannot live without access to a big glass of sweet iced tea (with extra lemon)!! I think I probably go through a pitcher a day when I'm home visiting my mom (oops!).

Sweet Tea

... But not that

People can usually never believe this! I honestly want to love coffee so badly because I think coffee drinkers are the coolest...but I just can't get over the flavor. Maybe one day I'll convert!

give me this...

I HAVE to have warm weather...which is why I love my life near the beach in Wilmington, NC. During the sunny days, you can usually find me walking around downtown eating Kilwins ice cream or swimming in the ocean.

... But not that

I love the way fresh snow looks but the cold is just not worth it! Even a 50 degree day is too chilly for me. You can usually find me wrapped in a blanket...no matter what temperature outside.

give me this...

I could honestly eat Chick-Fil-A every day... Chick-Fil-A sauce on my chicken sandwich and Polynesian sauce on my fries –– perfection. I have been trying hard to eat healthier but it's almost impossible for me to pass up a trip to CFA.

... But not that

If you know me, you know I HATE pickles. So if I'm getting that chicken sandwich, it absolutely must not have had pickles near it! My friends usually think this is funny so they're constantly (jokingly) offering me pickles -- no thank you.
