Shaili is a smart, sweet high school senior at Rocky Mount High School –– my first #dakotaherseysenior from that area! I am so thankful she found me on Instagram because she is absolutely beautiful and was so fun to work with!
Fun fact (just because I think it’s so cool!): She taught herself handlettering for fun!! Now she sells her work and is donating all of the proceeds as part of her senior project. I tried to teach myself handlettering for a short time and it takes a lot of patience and practice so I love that she’s taken to the next step of actually selling it to other people!
For her session, she let me know that she loved the city but she also loves nature so we wanted to try to find an area that would let us get both styles. I had recently gone to downtown Raleigh and fell in love with the Junction West building (hello white and natural reflectors!!), which just so happened to be walking distance from a park…perfect!
Shaili and I met up in downtown where I talked through the different areas I wanted to visit and we looked through her clothes to match them up to the locations. She brought a Carolina blue sweater (perfect for her next season!) with the cutest gold shoes, a hot pink top with a leather skirt, and a white top with bright teal earrings. I loved the variety in her outfits because she showed each side of herself AND now we have photos with completely different looks!
Here are my favorites from her downtown Raleigh senior session 🙂
Next Shaili changed into a much sassier outfit and I was so excited! I love getting different “vibes” throughout the session because you get to see completely different sides of your personality.
With this bright pink shirt, leather skirt, and strappy heels, along with having warmed up in front of the camera, I could tell Shaili was much more comfortable showing off her power woman side in the city!
This is one of my favorite portraits from the entire session!!!
We used this local Heirloom coffee shop as our stop to change clothes and I couldn’t not get a few photos inside the shop. You can’t put me in a clean, white space with plants and NOT expect me to take photos!
I loved this yellow door because it was a great pop of color with Shaili’s white top and teal earrings! I love the way the colors work together.
Shaili loves the city but also loves just being outside so we ended her session in Nash Square, which was fun to have some nature surrounded by the city!
