I love a big wedding day, full of people and energy…but I also really love an intimate wedding, where it’s simple and intentional. Sammy and Lance originally weren’t sure if they were going to have a full wedding celebration, but then, felt it on their hearts to bring their closest community together, and it was so worth it.
The morning set the precedent for the entire day, being calm and relaxed as the girls got their makeup done, and Lance had his famous locks styled (his hair reminds me of a romance novel cover!). They chose not to have an official “bridal party,” but instead have their family and like-family members get ready with them.
Sammy’s intentionality touches everything from the way she communicates with patience and kindness to the way she curated her details for her wedding day. I loved the pearl accents!
Their ceremony was thoughtful and personal, led by Sammy’s close-family friend, who is like a father to her. One of my favorite parts was how Sammy and Lance were so present throughout the entire ceremony, taking time to focus on each other, but also to look out into the crowd to see the faces of those supporting them.
It was a beautiful, sunny November day on the water of Neuse Breeze, a dream of a location!
After portraits (some of my favorites I’ve ever taken – they’re both just so natural with each other), we headed into the reception where they spent the night listening to toasts, spinning on the dance floor, and laughing with their friends. They actually did an open mic for toasts and I was surprised at how many thoughtful, well-done speeches they had! (I would expect that FOR them, but you know not everyone is the best public speaker haha)
Sammy and Lance, thank you for inviting me to capture the start of your marriage!!! You two have such a calmness and peace about you that is so inviting. Congratulations!!!!
