One thing I love about the wedding world (specifically the Wilmington, NC wedding industry) is just how creative everyone is. We spend so much time creating for others, making their visions come to life, that it’s really nice when we get to simply create for ourselves.
I also believe it’s important for the wedding vendors to create for themselves every now and then to infuse the industry with new ideas and inspiration. It can be hard for those who live outside the event world to dream up new possibilities so it’s our job to show them the options and keep wedding designs fresh and exciting and worth hosting.
The team at Martha My Dear had a ton of new rentals they wanted to highlight and the Brittanie Raquel Events team is the best at pulling together a beautiful vision and top-notch vendor team. This wedding design was inspired by rich monochromatic greens, interesting textures, and felt very reminiscent of an Italian country-side.
I loved the mix of florals with fruit as centerpieces, showing how you can get creative beyond a simple compote to spruce up your tables. The stone floral vases brought out the elegance with different textures and paired perfectly with the warm tones of the Brooklyn Arts Center.
They made the space a little more modern with the use of Alexis Scott Designs‘ signs and menus. This is a great example of how to combine two different styles of decor to create something totally unique.
I do think a favorite design aspect of mine was the dessert bar. Martha My Dear added extra pop to the bar by adding a wall paper detail to the front (this can be customized to your own wedding colors!). The bar was covered in a spread of various pies and cookies, with the same fruit elements from the reception tables, bringing in the cohesive colors.
Another trend I’m hoping to see is the elevated performer. Maura with Wilmington Violinist always adds a level of romance and class to events, but putting her on a pedestal bring it to a whole new level (literally). Just imagine walking into a space filled with soft music and then seeing the performer posed like art in a museum – pure elegance!
I also have to give a shoutout to Bethany from Serendipity Florals because her designs are always amazing. I love how she uses unique florals with interesting textures but still creates with a touch tradition. This bouquet is one of my favorites from her!! It was bouncy, romantic, airy, and graceful.
Thank you Brittanie Raquel Events and Martha My Dear for asking me to be a part of this creative event! I’m thankful to be surrounded and supported by such professionals.
