One of the best things about living near a beach that is a “destination” location is meeting seniors and couples from all over the state! Kristen is a senior at High Point Christian Academy but she spends SO much of her time at the beach. Her family has a house in Oak Island, so they were looking for a photographer who knew the area –– luckily I’m shooting on all of the Brunswick County beaches!!
Due to the recent hurricane, we actually decided to use Wrightsville Beach so we didn’t have to work around different closures and debris. We met in the morning and it was BEAUTIFUL. I do normally choose to shoot in the evenings for that golden hour glow…but on the beach, the morning light is soft, glowy, and sometimes lets us use locations I normally can’t!
Hanging out with Kristen and her mom was SO fun. I’ll admit, I was very tired from shooting a wedding the night before but keeping awake and excited with them around wasn’t difficult at all. We had a LOT to talk about between future plans, touring colleges, my favorite things about Wilmington, and all the Kristen has been up to.
I love that she chose a mix of different outfits, starting with a cute, flowy blue and purple dress. We got so lucky that there were actually purple blooms at the beach!!! It was fate!
We bounced between the beach and the boat docks, and then ended at one of my newest favorite spots in a local neighborhood. I love the way the palm trees looked with her bright, yellow top!
Kristen, you are so incredibly smart and focused and I can’t wait to see all that you do! I’m selfishly hoping you end up in Wilmington so we can grab lunch and I can introduce you to some of my other amazing seniors, but you’re going to do great wherever you choose!!
