Picture a wedding in the forest, with a patch of wildflowers, magical light pouring in through the trees — this was Jack and Olivia’s wedding day.
I knew I was going to love working with them after our engagement session. They are a photographer’s dream — easy-going, clear communicators about their vision and priorities, and totally wrapped up in each other, which makes them very natural in front of the camera.
It’s so refreshing to see more and more couples arrange their wedding day around how they want to spend the day, rather than how they’re “supposed” to. For Jack and Olivia, that meant a relaxed morning getting ready with their friends but no formal bridal party (just their two brothers standing up with them). It honestly felt like scenes from a movie seeing Olivia’s girlfriends help with her hair while curlers were still in theirs. It was organic, just like they’d hoped.
Jack and Olivia did a beautiful job of weaving tradition with authenticity.
For their unity ceremony, they watered a lemon tree that their guests had helped plant by pouring in dirt as they signed the guest book.
They walked down the aisle side by side, presenting themselves together. They placed the rings on each other’s hands half-way but slid them all the way on themselves to signify their own choice to commit to each other.
After the ceremony, Jack and Olivia frolicked in the wildflower fields for their newly-wed portraits and it was a nice little break from manicured lawns and sandy beaches. We kept talking about how crazy it was that they found Sunnyside at Baldwin Farms because it fit their vision exactly – a little woodland cabin tucked in a countryside with fields and wildflowers and tree orchards.
Jack and Olivia, thank you for asking me to capture your magical day. Congratulations!!
A huge thank you to the vendors who made this day beautiful!!!
