We have been waiting on this day for SO long. Katelyn and Jon were originally supposed to be married on May 16, 2020, and we were so disappointed when we had to reschedule…BUT they were able to have October 16, 2020 as their new date and I think that’s so sweet! They also had May weather in October so it’s like it all was originally planned!
I love anytime I get to hang out with Katelyn and Jon. They are so laid back and LOVE to laugh. Photographing them is literally a dream. I knew their wedding day was going to be blast.
They were actually married in a beach rental house –– now this is no small feat!!! Thankfully we had the Brittanie Raquel Events team there to make everything move so smoothly. They are some of my best friends and I was SO excited to work our first event together!! There is a lot that goes into putting on a wedding in general, but one in a private residence requires a LOT of forethought and a lot of hands (preferably ones that aren’t family or guests). They rocked it!!!
This was also interesting because of the forecast…in true North Carolina beach weather fashion, there were random showers happening on and off throughout the day. I am SO proud of how we maneuvered through the timeline to work around the little storms and still got everything Katelyn wanted!!!
A HUGE reason (probably the main reason) this worked is because they chose to do a first look. This gave us so much flexibility and reassurance that we would have more than enough time to get all of the portraits we wanted.
Not only was their first look logistically helpful, it was SO sweet. I love the way Jon is so in awe of Katelyn on a daily basis, but him seeing her in her wedding dress I felt even MORE admiration for his soon-to-be wife.
The ceremony was sweet and touching, the family photos were a ton of fun, and we laughed through portraits as I actually freaked out that the sun popped through the clouds JUST in time for the sunset!!! We found a location around the corner that made it look like we were in a resort…I was so excited!!! I mean, you can’t get married on Wrightsville Beach without some water, palm trees, and sunny glow!!!
Katelyn and Jon, I am just so happy for you two. I am SO thankful that I got to come along for this wild ride and be there for you every step of the way. I don’t see that changing either!!! I will definitely be coming to Charlotte to visit soon!!! Love you so much!
A huge thank you to the vendors who made this day beautiful!!!
