My senior experience is a lot more than the two hours we spend together at shoots! I want to know you and be friends beyond just a gallery delivery. Being a Dakota Hersey senior is being part of a community that supports and encourages each other (and gaining one of your biggest hype girls!!!).

But I don’t want you to just hear that from me…so Colleen is taking over today! She is one of my 2020 senior spokesmodels and you are going to love her!

Tell us a little about yourself!!!

My name is Colleen Jones and I am a senior at Charles B. Aycock. At Aycock I am involved in many groups. I am in S2S, which is a group that shows new students around the school and help them become comfortable in Aycock’s environment. I am also in National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society. I am Senior class secretary and I am also on the women’s soccer team.

Outside of school I am on the R12 Drama and Dance Team. The team competes in competitions and goes to Florida in the summer for Teen Talent Nationals.

I love to hangout with my family –– I’m such a homebody! I love to hangout with my friends and eat at Chick-Fil-A (of course). If my friends had to describe me, they would describe me as really fun and energetic. I am always down to have a good time and hangout with the people I care about the most. 

If someone was trying to decide if they should get senior photos or not, what would you tell them?

I would definitely recommend anyone getting senior pictures taken. It is a major milestone in your life and the pictures are so fun to take. They are so special to look back on and see how much you have changed. 

What should you look for in your senior photographer?

If you are getting senior pictures taken you should get a photographer that matches your style. If you like really light and colorful photos, you should find a photographer to match that. Every photographer has a different style, pick the one that matches yours.

What hesitations or concerns did you have before booking your senior session?

I was mostly concerned about what to wear and where to take them. I wanted my outfits and locations to match my personality.

What did you do to prep for your session?

I have never been good at hair and makeup, so I had Jennifer Culbreth come to my house and help me out. She did an amazing job and it really made my pictures better. My mom and I also looked through all my clothes and pick out which outfits would look the best. 

What was your senior session like?

It was so fun! Dakota made me feel really comfortable in front of the camera and it was not awkward at all. We told jokes and talked the whole time. Best experience I could have asked for!

What are you looking forward to during your senior year?

I am looking forward to having all my “lasts.” I’m ready to take in everything senior year has to offer me and doing it with my best friends. 

What are you looking forward to next year?

I am looking forward to being in a different environment and making new friends. I am ready to have a fun college experience. 

What advice do you have to give to the rising seniors?

Take everything in your senior year. Many people with tell you that senior year goes by so fast, trust me it does. Take time to appreciate everything you do and the people that have helped you get there. Don’t blink, it will all be over before you know it. 

What has been the best part of being a Dakota Hersey senior spokesmodel?

The best thing about being a DHP Spokesmodel is meeting all the girls. The girls are so supportive of each other! They are all so nice and they give the best advice. I love these girls with my whole heart and I would not trade this experience for anything.
