CJ reached out to me to photograph his proposal to his long time girlfriend, Alexa, at his family’s yacht club in Carolina Beach, NC. As you may know, proposals are by far one of my favorite things to photograph. There is so much anticipation and excitement as the soon-to-be groom arranges and executes his perfect plan. CJ was no different. While we had to be flexible with this North Carolina weather, we were able to find a time that was perfect to follow through on his vision and avoid the rain.
My friend Kinsey (who came along because she also loves proposals and also ended up helping film) and I met up with CJ’s sister, Tori, and the rest of his and Alexa’s families at the Inlet Watch Yacht Club on Saturday of July 4th weekend. The plan was simple. CJ would arrive with his brother and Alexa, they would walk over to the area we were all waiting, and then CJ would pop the question in the middle of all of their most special people.
I loved the prep time before the proposal. The families all gathered, laughing about how long they’ve been waiting for this moment, and getting ready to celebrate. When Alexa got out of the car, she had no idea. Apparently the night before she was making jokes to CJ about how his brother had proposed to her so he needed to stop taking his time…little did she know! CJ popped the question, and Alexa agreed to be his bride (and y’all make sure you see that ring. Just beautiful.). After a few moments of congratulations, we all headed to the boat for champagne toasts and a ride around the intercoastal with the newly engaged soon-to-be Barones!
CJ and Alexa, I’m so excited I could play such a big part in your special day! CJ, I’m glad we were able to make this happen since I know you were barely able to keep this secret! Very excited to continue to see all of the photos of your celebrations of your new engagement. Congratulations again!!!!
