The sun was shining to give just enough warmth that you didn’t need a jacket, the breeze was slight, providing circulation and a light fluff in your hair, and there was little humidity, even on the beach. The absolute perfect fall Saturday afternoon – exactly what Allison and Hubie deserved for their wedding day.
I admire so much about this couple because they are BOTH doctors…yes. They successfully planned and executed a wedding while both completing their residencies. They are kind, always making sure those around them are thanked and appreciated. They are easy-going, not letting little things get in the way of fully enjoying their day. They also made sure to surround themselves with the best of the best for their vendor team so when there were hiccups, we handled them without them even having to worry about it!
We started the day off at Hubie’s family’s beach house (it used to be the old trolley stop for visiting Wrightsville Beach!), where Allison did her first look with both her dad and Hubie with the beach as the backdrop. I loved that we were able to start their story at a place so special to their family…and that VIEW. I could sit on the porch all day long.
We headed downtown for the ceremony in Saint James Episcopal Church, an iconic church on the corner of Market and 3rd Street. Downtown portraits can be tricky, but I was thankful for a bridal party and family that understood the assignment so we could finish up with time to spare!
The evening was spent mingling on the Carolina Yacht Club porches, eating delicious hor d’oeuvres from Middle of The Island (one of my favorites!), before the dance floor opened up with Soul Psychedelic! Everyone was on the dance floor, swinging and shagging!
I also have to give a shoutout to Sarah Ann Events and her team for always making sure things are beautifully orchestrated – a day like this can’t happen without a team like this!!!
Allison and Hubie, thank you for trusting me with your special moments and inviting me to capture your gorgeous love story! I can’t wait to see where life takes you.
