There are so many things about Preston and Drew’s wedding day that I loved!!! It was my first real wedding at The Elia (the wedding venue owned and managed by my closest planner friends) and the first wedding with mix-matched patterned bridesmaid dresses, which is a trend that I have seen for years and have loved. Preston and her girls pulled it off so beautifully!!!
Preston is likely one of the most intentional and organized brides I’ve ever worked with, which made my job and Amy’s job a lot easier!! I loved how Preston and Drew incorporated their photography into their wedding day. Of course I have the must-have’s that I capture at every wedding but I always work with my couples to structure the day in a way that aligns with their priorities.
For instance, Preston and Drew have a LARGE friend group and a lot of people they wanted to involve in their day! This can feel overwhelming if you aren’t realistic about what it looks like to have a large (7+ people) bridal party. Preston and Drew wanted to make sure we didn’t spend the entire day taking photos but instead wanted to get photos that featured everyone casually and then have more “action-oriented” photos…which I love because that creates so much more of a memory!
We finished up photos early after a sweet intimate first look, private letters, and fun bridal party photos in the park across the street. I wanted to make sure that we were finished in time to be back inside the venue without stressing any early guests. This allowed the perfect amount of time for a toast with the groomsmen – one of my favorite parts of the day!
The ceremony was sweet, with their friends having front row seats while they were joined on stage with just their siblings and parents (another trend I love!)…followed by a reception full of drinks, delicious food, and dancing! My favorite moment was when they cut their cake and Drew cut the largest piece of cake I’ve ever seen. We laughed about it for 5 solid minutes!
Preston and Drew, thank you for trusting me with your day! I hope it was everything you’d ever hoped for and the perfect start to a long, happy marriage. Congratulations!!!!
