I am so excited for Maggie and Alex’s wedding!!! Even more so after their engagement session. They are both very kind-hearted, down to earth people who are very clearly infatuated with each other. They also both come from a Greek-American household. After photographing my first Greek wedding a few years ago, I learned I love the Greek traditions in their ceremony and also the energy at the reception!
Maggie and Alex met at their church during the Greek Festival. Maggie was working in the pastry booth and Alex was working in the bar cart. Maggie’s dad and a few other men at our church wanted to introduce them, but they weren’t exactly sure how they should do it. They developed a plan that resulted in them having to work in the bar cart together serving Greek wines, beers, and Ouzo shots! Maggie and Alex hit it off, and the rest has been history!
Alex proposed to Maggie early this year when he and 2 of Maggie’s best friends snuck into Maggie’s house while she was running errands with her mom and set up a beautiful display of flowers, pictures, candles, and balloons. When Maggie came home to meet Alex for dinner he was waiting there to pop the question! Maggie walked into the house with “You are in Love” by Taylor Swift playing in the background (OMG), Alex waiting at the end of a rose petal path, and her friends hiding behind the counter ready to take pictures and videos! She said it was the biggest surprise and most special moment!
For their engagement photos, we chose to start at the WRAL Gardens in Raleigh, NC for the floral garden look. I loved that we were able to use one of the fountains. For some reason it reminded me of Paris but that may be because I’m planning my first trip there this month! Then we headed to the NC Museum of Art to photograph the willows and were even able to venture over to a sunflower field!!
I can’t wait for their wedding next May!!!
