The last wedding of the 2024!!!! And it did not disappoint. I have known Emily and Cody for quite some time and I even took both of their high school senior photos before they were dating, so getting to see their families join together was so special – especially because I’m connected to so much of the bridal party too!! It was like a giant reunion with the community I grew up with, who Weston went to school with, and who we’ve photographed their weddings too.
Even though this was technically a winter wedding, Emily was adamant that it was still lively and fun so she incorporated lots of warm, bright colors. I absolutely loved this!! Sometimes people think that fall and winter wedding automatically equal dark, cool palettes but this is proof that you can still have a colorful wedding that works with the tones of the season.
This was also my first wedding at The Lewis Atkinson House by The Cornealius Properties, which is a beautiful property full of charm! Y’all know I love a historic home with original wood floors, tall ceilings, and intricate moldings. Emily’s getting ready photos feel so royal – that could be from my inspiration of exploring Buckingham Palace this summer or just how grand her dress was!
Emily and Cody chose to do a first look, mostly so we could get ALL of the bridal party and family photos completed before the ceremony so they didn’t have to stress the early sunset, but it was so sweet to see Cody and Emily be completely themselves and comfortable as they shared their vows with each other.
First looks are obviously great for logistics and it was so nice that they got to visit with guests during their cocktail hour, but seeing couples shake off their nerves and become so much more present in their day is truly the reason I recommend first looks so much.
Overall Emily and Cody’s day was full of exactly why I love photographing weddings so much – a beautiful couple, supportive and loving families, bridal parties that keep everyone laughing, thoughtful decor that makes a space feel special, a dance floor full of energy, and delicious cake!!! The perfect ending to our 2024 season.
Emily and Cody, thank you for bringing me along for so many of your milestones!!! I am so thankful we could be there for your wedding day and can’t wait to see the life you two create together. Congratulations!!!!
A huge thank you to the vendors who made this day beautiful!!!
