I am SO excited to be Rachel and Jack’s photographer!!! Rachel and I are from the same town and went to the same high school, but never really connected…which is weird because I feel like we are long lost friends.
Her and Jack are so much fun to be around. We talked all about our favorite places and memories of Wilmington (mostly consisting of bars hehe) and about how we wished they could’ve brought their sweet fur-babe, Winnie.
Jack asked Rachel to be his bride in May while they were in the process of moving into Rachel’s childhood home. They had been to a fundraising event at The Firehouse (their venue!!!) and Jack said he wanted to go back to the new house and check on the progress of the painters. Once they were there, he said there was a project he’d been working on for her. He made Rachel close her eyes and led her out onto the back porch where he had strung lights and strewn rose petals. He picked up his guitar and started playing the song Forever and Ever, Amen by Randy Travis –– crying!!! Needless to say, he could not make it through much of the song before he was overcome with emotion but the next thing she know, Jack was down on one knee. He even asked a friend to take some photos! He said he wanted to ask me in the place where my past is becoming my new beginning.
I know their big day is going to be absolutely beautiful and so sweet surrounded by their favorite people.
But before the big day, we have engagements!!! For their engagement photos, Rachel and Jack wanted a mix of historic downtown Wilmington, some southern Spanish moss, and some details to tie in with their wedding venue.
I was able to find one of the only corners in Wilmington where is a ton of Spanish moss and I was SO excited. We ventured around historic downtown, over to Station No. 2 for the firehouse vibes, and then ended on the rooftop of my favorite parking deck –– which is where the sun popped out for that gorgeous glow!
Here are my favorites from their engagement photos, and you will see them back on the blog a year from now!!!
