We’re going back in the archives to some shoots that I haven’t had a chance to share yet because my schedule post-quarantine was WILD. A lot has changed since this shoot last summer but it’s still just as sweet! 

I met Heather at one of my very first in-person education experiences in my photography journey with Hope Taylor. When Hope hosted an alumni retreat in Nashville, Heather and I had another chance to hang out! I’m so thankful to have a friend like her, especially since she’s in North Carolina and we were going through similar stages of life and business. 

She was planning a vacation at the beach near Wilmington and I was SO excited when she reached out to have photos done of her and her then-boyfriend Nick. We joked about wishing for an engagement one day and she had no idea it would be happening not long after! 

I had never photographed a couple in Southport, NC and it was the perfect time of year to have the flowers in bloom so I suggested we use the quaint beach town. It is the literal set of a movie after all! 

We wandered around to a few spots I had scouted previously and I loved the way her blue dress and eyes popped against the backdrops. In true NC coast nature, a summer storm we weren’t anticipating rolled in right at the end of the shoot but that didn’t stop us from getting some romantic beach photos under the pier! Talk about moving quickly!!! 

I love everything Wilmington has to offer but I also love explore the surrounding cities, especially when they fit your vision better. Southport is perfect for that small town, coastal look with gorgeous floral landscaping and quick access to the beach. 

Heather and Nick will be getting married before too long and I am so excited for them!!!
