My One Word For 2026: EXPLORE

January 20, 2026

We are coming up on 9 years of choosing a word of the year!!! Incredible. Amazing. Consistent 🙂

Here’s your yearly reminder of my journey and past words:

2017: FOCUS
2018:
CULTIVATE
2019: TRUST
2020: NOW
2021: PRIORITIZE
2022: NEW
2023: PUSH
2024: ENERGY
2025: CONSISTENCY

2025 Review: Consistency

Originally when I chose the word Consistency, I needed grounding, routine, and giving space for things to unfold. Not necessarily introducing anything “new” but focusing on doing the things I had already been working on.

When I looked over how I was defining what consistency would look like for me, I was a little disappointed in myself. I didn’t do a lot of those things…but I think I did find consistency in other unexpected ways. And that’s okay.

The consistency I did find was:

• A podcast publishing rhythm with Weston (now re-evaluating!)
• Remembering to bring a disposable or film camera with me to events and shoots
• Understanding how to incorporate the gym even when I’m sick or not training for anything
• Eating more home-cooked meals (thanks to Web!)
• Attending more live music events on a regular basis
• Having consistent retainer services with More Than Creative Co. clients
• Keeping standing dates with my friends to see them even when life got hectic
• Kept up with delivering everything on time while also having fun (and taking a lot of it back in-house after Weston left)
• Finding a partner who is the most consistent person I’ve ever been with, who allows me to figure out what I need while also supporting me with love
• Continuing to deeply understand myself and how I want to create a fulfilling life

Anxiety and anticipation will always be a part of my life, but I chose the word Consistency because I craved the need to feel sure and build trust with other people and myself.

Reflecting on how I feel heading into 2026, I am realizing just how much it has built my confidence to fully chase goals and new experiences (my exact wish from last year).

2026: EXPLORE

The last few years have been a grind, and my yearly words have reflected that: Priortize, New, Push, Energy, Consistency…

And I have hustled. I have pushed myself emotionally, mentally, financially, physically, relationally, etc. I am really proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish, and I am not stopping anytime soon. In fact, I need to start ramping up, especially within the business.

I feel like the most helpful, impactful moments of the past few years have been when I’ve married preparation with surrenderance to the process. As I think about what I want to accomplish this next year, I need a little less force and a little more curiosity.

EXPLORE: to travel through unfamiliar areas to learn and familiarize yourself.

There are a few things I love about the word EXPLORE.

Exploring requires studying and preparing. Exploring doesn’t mean complete abandonment of control.

You can still control the outcome by making sure you know what could be ahead, taking the time to understand the possible paths and routes, and then making the most educated guess.

Exploring demands leaving your comfort zone and potential safety.

Similar to the saying “boats are safe in the harbor, but that’s not what they were built for.” I need to feel excited about the idea of going after new and different things. To turn the unknown into an adventure.

Exploring calls for curiosity and wonder.

In 2026, I want to be open to the possibilities and the potential of unmarked paths. It feels like intentional expansion without the anxiety of locking expectations in before I know what makes the most sense. It feels like being okay with saying “what happens if I do this?” without feeling so worried I’m distracting from the assigned goals.

I’m excited for a year of grounded whimsy, where I can be less afraid of shaking it up from what I’ve always done and confidently chase the unknown. Even though I’ve never actually hiked a day in my life LOL, I love the visual of setting out in search of something exciting but being open to the waterfalls and hidden coves and buried treasures along the way.

In 2026, you can expect new services, refined approaches, leaning into healthy anticipation, playing with cameras and content, and that same relentless search for happiness and fulfillment.
