Over the past month, I’ve had more time than I’ve ever had before.
Time to stay up late and sleep in.
Time to build out the backend of my business.
Time to keep on a gym schedule.
Time to get dinner with friends.
Most importantly, I’ve time to really reflect on what I want to accomplish in life.
Even with time, this is not easy! I still haven’t quite figured it out, and it’s so interesting because I’ve been here before –– the in-between place where one chapter is ending and another one is starting, but you have no idea what that even looks like.
Being a planner and slight control freak, this is an extremely difficult place for me (raise your hand if you can relate).
I had a chance to get dinner with two of my senior spokesmodels after Anna’s session a few weekends ago and we had a similar conversation. As we talked about their future plans and how that affects their family, friendships, and relationships, I remembered what it was like being in their shoes.
Being really excited and knowing that the next season was going to be better than I could even imagine, but being nervous because it was different and unknown.
When we’re in these seasons, we’re battling living in the moment while trying to prepare for the next, and it’s hard.
Sounds familiar, huh?
It’s no different from a high schooler getting ready to head to college, to a single person waiting for a new relationship, to a bride leaving her roommates to move in with her husband, to moving from one job to the next, to big changes happening in your family.
We all go through this process time and time again.
The best thing you can do when you’re here is enjoy the season, seek out the opportunities you didn’t have before (or won’t have in the next season), and intentionally focus on what’s happening in this very moment. Before you know it, you’ll be “on the other side”!
When we were talking through this, I told my seniors something that I am reminded of every time I feel like I am in this place of feeling in-between…
When my plans don’t happen the way I’d pictured, the outcome is ALWAYS 1000% better than what I expected for myself.
Every. Single. Situation.
Then what happens next? My path is forever altered in the best way. New doors open that I didn’t even know existed. New friendships form that now I can’t live without. New skills develop that allow me to continue on and be better than I was before.
And maybe you’ll even miss the things you were able to do while you were feeling like you were just waiting to get into the next chapter. Because in reality, you weren’t just waiting. You were recharging, or creating new memories, or learning new things.
So even if it feels a little strange right now, that is SO ENCOURAGING!
If you are currently in a place where you are feeling anxious and like you can’t see what’s ahead, just you wait.
The next chapter is going to grow you, and shape you, and challenge you like never before…and you will be SO proud of who you become.
It’s hard to believe now, but the wait will be so worth it.
And we’re all in this together, so if you need an encouraging message or ice cream date, I would LOVE to be the person you call.
