This day has been long awaited for! I’ve known Casey and Kyle for a LONG time. Casey and I went to rival high schools and Kyle and I lived on the same floor our freshman year of college. When she reached out to me to photograph her wedding back in early 2019 (!!!), we had know idea how much time we’d get to spend together throughout their engagement (and neither did Kyle, haha!). He is admittedly not the biggest fan of photos but he has been so patient and awesome with getting everything Casey and I have wanted!
It all started with their engagements on Figure Eight Island…then a pandemic that caused them to postpone their big celebration. They chose to still get married on their original wedding date in an intimate ceremony in Casey’s home church surrounded by their families. It was the truly the best of both worlds in the midst of unfortunate circumstances.
So we’ve waited and waited, and on July 3rd the Schimelfenigs finally had the party everyone was excited to attend!!! And they danced ALL NIGHT! I’ve so enjoyed every time I’ve been able to spend the day with these two families and their closest friends. It can be difficult to manage a larger bridal party and huge families, but their people are always so cooperative and FUN.
From a morning of Casey gifting sweet, custom drawings (by her sister!) to both of her parents, to her completely wow’ing Kyle in her wedding dress, AND to only 40% humidity on a North Carolina summer day, it was PERFECT. Well worth the wait!!!
Casey and Kyle chose to do ALL of their photos prior to the ceremony, including a first look, bridal party photos, and family photos. This was such a blessing because it allowed them to relax after the ceremony, take a few more portraits on the course, and then head straight into their party. I love when we’re not feeling rushed and my couples can enjoy greeting every guest and spend some time on the dancefloor.
I had so many favorite parts of the day but listening to Kyle’s younger brother and best man Colin give his toast was so incredibly sweet. It was so clear how much he loves both of them (and he was the best help all day coming along to make sure Casey had help with her dress and that we didn’t get hit by golfballs!).
Casey and Kyle, I am so grateful for the two of you and that we made it through this journey!!! Both of your wedding days were so beautiful and I can’t wait to see all that your marriage brings this world. Love you and congratulations!!!
