Emma and Dave’s wedding day was exactly how you would dream your wedding day would be – relaxed, fun, and easy. Everyone says weddings are hectic and honestly, sometimes they are. But I do feel like when you have a couple that has clear priorities who surrounds themselves with people who put them first (and can follow directions while still having fun LOL), it can be a day that feels just as magical as it looks.
The day started with a bourbon toast with the groomsmen, where I learned that its bad luck to gift an empty flask…word to the wise for future gifts! Then we headed to the girls to get Emma dressed, along with a sweet first look with her dad and brother.
Thankfully Emma and Dave chose to do a first look so we could get to the party as soon as possible, and also avoid the storm that was rolling in! While Dave isn’t one to necessarily get super emotional, he makes Emma belly laugh and that energy is contagious. I loved that they got to have those moments together before the ceremony. It’s YOUR day, so why wouldn’t you want to spend more of it with your best friend?!
After their ceremony, we spent time with family and did some portraits in the courtyard and then highlighted one of the coolest parts of The Brooklyn Arts Center…the bourbon bar! We headed up to the balcony to do a few photos with them having a private drink together before the party kicked off.
The Brooklyn Arts Center has an option to allow the couple to pass out custom tokens to special guests to redeem for a bourdon drink of their choice. It’s a fun way to honor guests and create an extra special experience while everyone else is partying on the dance floor!
Emma and Dave, I just love you two. Thank you for asking me to be your photographer!!! I can’t wait for future Wilmington dinner dates!! (And maybe convincing you to move hehe)
