A wedding in the low country!!! While I still live on the southern east coast, there’s just something about the color and charm of Charleston, SC. I was so excited when Amber (a fellow Alpha Chi from Wilmington!) reached out about having me photograph her wedding…then that excitement doubled when she booked Kinsey with Brittanie Raquel Events as her coordinator! The dream team.

Amber and Drew have been together since high school so this day was a long time coming. It was so sweet to hear her dad reflect and share stories from those first interactions with his future son-in-law. Weddings for long term couples are always so fun as it feels like one giant family even though it’s guests from all seasons of life.

The morning started out at the cutest AirBnB in downtown Charleston with the girls getting ready in some of my favorite bridesmaids dresses of all time. After an emotional first look with Amber’s dad and photos with the girls in front of the house, we headed to The Island House to meet the guys.

Amber surprised Drew with a custom tie matching the pattern of the bridesmaids’ dresses with a photo of him and his mom. The whole day had thoughtful touches and details to honor family members and Amber and Drew’s love for each other.

As the clouds rolled in and the thunder started booming in the distance, we still had a gorgeous ceremony facing the water under the floral arch. It held off for us just long enough to have the first kiss and then have everyone start the celebration under the tent. The bridal party was so cooperative with taking the fastest bridal party photos I’ve ever taken!

Then we squeezed in newlywed photos in the drizzle, and spent the cocktail hour visiting and admiring the double rainbow that popped up after the shower. It was magical! (Honestly the rain cooled things down so it ended up being a blessing all around.)

The rest of the night was spent spinning the littles around on the dance floor, partying with the light up sticks, smoking cigars, and wishing the night wouldn’t end.

Amber and Drew, thank you for inviting me to be a part of your big day! Your attitude of keeping each other first regardless of the circumstances is going to make your marriage so wonderful. Congratulations!!
